Brenham is an American city located in central Texas, Washington County, United States. According to the 2000 census, Brenham has a population of 13,507. The city is the county seat of Washington County, just south of College Station.
The city of Brenham is the proud home of Blue Bell Creameries. Blue Bell Creameries is a popular ice cream brand in the state of Texas and the whole of southeastern United States. In fact Blue Bell ice cream, despite being sold only in 17 states, is the third-best selling ice cream brand in the country.
Blinn College is also located in Brenham. As any Texas folk will tell you, Blinn College is the oldest county-owned junior college in the state, though it also has a campus in Bryan.
A German heritage festival is held in Brenham each May. Known a Maifest, it is a popular festival that attracts thousands of tourists every year.
The city of Brenham has a total area of 22.7 km2, all of it land, according to the United States Census Bureau. It isnÂ’t a big city by itself, but at least every inch of it is land.
Brenham is served by the Brenham Christian Academy and the Brenham Independent School District.
