The City of Borger calls itself the gateway of Texas Panhandle's High Plains. The High Plains pretty much signifies the image of the world's collective conscious as to what Texas is: a vast land of soil filled with wheat and corn where Indians and Cowboys once coexisted and created hundreds of undying tales and legacies. Aside from this, the City of Borger also can represent the state of Texas economic wise in as much it is home to historic places where oil was discovered and pioneer oil industries were built in the first three decades of the 1900s.
Today, the City of Borger still primarily lives through their oil resources, but together with a collection of various businesses and commercial entities that enable its community a prosperous, comfortable and modern kind of living at par with other hub cities in Texas. In terms of political boundaries, the City of Borger is the biggest city in Hutchinson County, home to more than 14,000 residents and almost 4,000 families. The place derived its name from Hutchinson County's founder, a businessman named Asa Philip Borger.
Borger has a perfect balance of residential areas and business districts. It has a dozen of souvenir shops, malls, and even high end boutiques. The city too has its fine share of dining establishments, bars, leisure parks, and other niceties of urban living. Educational system is among the best in the region, which is primarily served by the Borger Independent School District. In terms of tourism, Borger is among the top destinations in Texas because it is where the vestiges of 1900s oil rush can be found. Borges is also where the Adobe Walls can be found, the location of the two largest battles fought during the Indian Wars.
