Bedford is a small suburban city situated in Tarrant County to the northeast. The City of Bedford began as a dusty farm road in the 1860s, and from there evolved into a great community. Bedford is often being grouped with fellow small cities, Hurst and Euless because of their smallness and their histories. Bedford is primarily a car-oriented city, since people work in offices nearby the major cities, Dallas and Forth worth. The suburban surrounding of Bedford poses an ambivalent characteristic. On the one hand, low income families find it challenging to travel to the city because of distance and the lack of a convenient public transit system. Walking and cycling to basic destinations are not different from suicide. On the other hand, the suburban-ness of the city itself is also what makes the place very peaceful and relaxing. Buildings are not crowded, villages are widely separated, and life is quiet and simple.
