Bacliff
Exactly sixteen miles away from the northwest of "The Oleander City" of Galveston is Bacliff. Once a private seaside resort town, this city has built up in modern time into a full fishing community. But just because the city has morphed into a domestic community does not mean that it is not capable of accommodating tourists anymore. Bacliff actually shelters majority of The Galveston County Department of Parks and Senior Services' recreational and amusement facilities. There is the Bacliff Community Center, for instance. With five baseball fields, ten picnic areas, one pier, one playground, one boat ramp, one historic site, and five practice backstops, the 28-acre Bayshore Park is also a must-visit in Bacliff.
The city of Bacliff also hosts a lot of events that tourists would find interesting. The most popular event in the area is, of course, the annual Fishing Tourney. Other Bacliff events that are worth seeing include the Festival on the Strand, the Rainbow Festival, the International Seafood Gumbo Cookoff, the Strawberry Festival, Annual Shrimp Boil, the Blessing of the Fleet, and the Heritage Festival. Bacliff also organizes a complete re-enactment of the historic Battle of Galveston.
And of course, since Bacliff is just a few miles away of Galveston, its tourists can enjoy the recreational sights in the bigger city too without getting hassled.
