Alice
Situated between the cities of McAllen, Corpus Christi, San Antonio and Laredo, The City of Alice is home to a highly urbanized environment that speaks of modernity and technology. Established towards the end decade of the 19th century, Alice is a city with many names. Before being called Alice, the city was also called Kleberg and before that, Bandana. Alice derived its name from Richard King's daughter, Alice Gertrudis King Kleberg.

Similar to the livelihood in most cities in old Texas, The City of Alice started as a community of farmers and shepherds engaging in agriculture and cattle industry. During the 1940s however, petroleum resources were found in several areas of the city, an event that subsequently led to economic affluence and dramatic population boom. Some of the more famous oil companies located in Alice are Weatherford International, Halliburton, Schlumberger, and BJ Services Company. A number of major companies and multi-national corporations built their headquarters in Alice in as much as the city poses a strategic situation in terms of transportation and distribution.

Alice is among the most promising cities in South Texas, which only means that social services, health facilities, and educational institutions are in their best state. Businesses in Alice continue to grow in unimagined proportions, making the city at par with the most industrialized cities in America and in the word.
